Japanese->English translation of "Finder" by 9mm Parabellum Bullet.

Translator's note: One of the verses is packed full of clever little overarching metaphors to do with colours. In English, I put "to lay out in black and white", which is a kind of idiom in Japanese - "to make clear", "to define the meaning". Then, immediately afterward, there's the verb "iroaseru", meaning "to fade" or "to lose colour". And the line before that is also all about colour. And um yeah. I just wanted to make it clear that "to lay out in black and white" means "to make clear", since I can't remember if it's really an idiom in English.

フィルムには写せない光なら写したい
瞳のレンズはいつも少しピントがずれてる

So long as it’s a light that can’t be captured in film, I want to capture it
The lens of my pupil is always getting slightly out of focus

ひとりぼっちで歩き疲れて
プラスチックな人にかまってられない
そんな不満ばかり

I’m tired of walking all alone
But can’t care for plastic people
That’s my only dissatisfaction

誰も彼も目を合わせずに
迷いながらどこも行けずに
靴の踵すり減らしてるのさ

Not making eye contact with anyone at all
While having lost my way, able to go nowhere
I’m wearing down the heels of my shoes

キャンバスに描けない色でなら描きたい
白黒つけずにいても答えは色褪せるだけ

So long as it’s with a colour that can’t be painted onto a canvas, I want to paint
Even if I can’t lay it out in black and white, the answer will just fade away

舞い上がる春の風 打ちつける夏の雨
季節が変わったあとの切なさに身をまかせて

The spring wind soars high, the summer rain hammers down
Entrust yourself to the pain that comes
After a season ends

ドラスチックに道で倒れて
ロマンチックに土に還っていきたい
そんな希望ばかり

I want to break down drastically on the roadway
And be returned romantically to the earth
That’s my only hope

誰も彼も声をかけずに
食い違いを口に出せずに
そっと心すり減らしてるのさ

Without greeting anyone at all
Without being able to put forth discrepancies from my mouth
I’m wearing my heart down quietly

高過ぎる秋の空 恋しがる冬の花
写真に変わったあとの儚さに身をまかせて

The autumn sky is too high, in winter flowers are dearly missed
Entrust yourself to the fleetingness that comes
After something changes into a photograph

いつかまた会えたなら その時は
真実の笑顔で笑ってくれ
いつかまた会えたなら この目には
真実の姿で写ってくれ

If we’ll be able to meet again someday, at that time
Please smile with your true smiling face
If we’ll be able to meet again someday, in these eyes
Please be reflected with your true shape
